The State of the Sickos Committee (a general update)

The State of the Sickos Committee but in a totally awesome retrosynthwave style graphic

Hello again, Commish here, just providing you all with a State of the Sickos Committee address. I feel like I do this every year in a blog form, and I just want to provide you with some life and Committee updates.

You may have heard me say it on a podcast recently, but I’m being forced back into the office by my Corporate Overlords after working at home exclusively for the past 5 years. Working at home has helped us a good bit to stay on top of things and produce two podcasts a week (Tuesday and Thursdays) and one blog a week here (Typically every Monday). Along with some Patreon bonus content podcasts (I think we have about 45 episodes behind the paywall). None of these things will change, but I just want to let you know I may need to take a week off occasionally in the off-season writing this blog to get acclimated to my commute again. I am already mad at the future traffic I will have to deal with.

On top of this, I am going to be coaching my near 8-year-old’s soccer team in the spring. Coach Commish’s return has me coaching practice on Wednesday evenings and games on Saturdays through about mid-May. It’s fun to coach my kiddo, but it may limit some more time I would have had to work on the Committee.

Just an FYI, Beth and Jordan say they will get back to the Yes Rah Rah Rah Yes Patreon podcasts as soon as they can align their respective Pennsylvania and Texas-based schedules up again. I know y’all love that band-nerd stuff, even though I have no clue about a damn thing they are saying. Also, if you are behind the paywall here with Beehiiv, you get those podcasts here too. I have a few more series in the works too, as do other podcast members.

I want to mention our Sickos Acrylic Stands (Basketball and Football versions) are back for Pre-Order, and we’ve extended the Pre-order date through April 7th. I worked around a month to try to get these back in the store for Pre-order. With never ending the changing implementation and removal of tariffs on products by someone who shall remain nameless, we have no idea if we can ever do this again. So please, if you had any teeny tiny thought about ordering these, we plead with you to order now because they may be gone forever and someone will sell theirs on eBay for $500.00 in the future instead of the low low low price of $25. Also, always remember, the cartoonist gets the majority of profits from these items.

Speaking of the Cartoonist, Ward Sutton, aka Stan Kelly. We have been in contact, and we’re trying to see if we can get some new Sickos characters for other sports, but this would likely be a few months away, but nevertheless it is exciting news.

Finally, I think we will be doing a pledge drive to try to drive more members to either our blog here or Patreon in April or May. We ideally would love it if we could support myself and Jordan to be able to do this full-time, but we’re a long way from that goal to make that happen. However, we understand every little bit you, the Committee, can do to help make it happen and helps fund our travel during the season. So if you’re in it with us and want to see us do more cool things and do this full-time, help if you can.

I completely understand the environment and climate we live in right now are pretty tough. Every day, it seems like another thing is happening that we can’t really fathom happening here, but they are. It’s difficult to laugh or talk about stupid things, but I just want to pledge to you that we will keep making silly and stupid things throughout this time. We’re aware of the things happening in the world, but we all need to have a mental break to laugh about a game with 27 fumbles, to remember Northwestern hired the San Diego Chicken TWICE to boost their attendance numbers during their record 34-game losing streak.

We have many things planned for the upcoming season and maybe even a live show in August, so joining the Patreon, buying merchandise from us, subscribing for free or paid here, or really just liking, retweeting, and sharing, our social media posts, downloading podcasts on all the phones at Best Buy, every single family member's phones, different apps or whatever, helps us continue doing this stupid thing we love to do, and we hope you love it too.

Thank you for reading and I’ll be back shortly with more silly things to discuss here!
