Recently on our podcast, I (Commish) was tasked with finding out all the bag policies for all the MLB teams. The reason for this was recently Milwaukee Brewers fans went viral for documenting their trip to test out the spaghetti policy at AmFam Field, and we discussed this on the podcast. It’s a fantastic read and the inspiration for all of this research. So shout out to all these Brewers fans here. I am a Pirates fan and I appreciate my NL Central brothers in pasta.

Now, let me lay a disclaimer here before I break everything down. Each time on every team’s website, they always state that security has the right to search or turn down your entry into their ballpark. So, don’t say the Sickos said it was ok, and you gotta let me in now.

We’re going to use the Milwaukee Brewers as the baseline for all ballpark spaghetti policies. Here is the Brewers policy on the bags they allow and outside food allowed:

“Milwaukee Brewers - Gallon-Sized clear Bag Allowed - One-gallon clear sealable bags,
Non-alcoholic sealed plastic bottles (32 ounces or smaller/one per person)
Personal-size food items (e.g., a sandwich, small bags of pretzels, piece of fruit)”

This leaves many things up to interpretation, but since they got a "personal-sized" food portion of spaghetti in already, we can use this as the baseline for all other teams.

  • Seattle Mariners - Gallon Bag allowed - Outside food is permitted in single-serving sizes. Soda, coffee or other beverages are not allowed. Guests may also bring in one empty plastic reusable bottle 32 ounces or smaller.

  • Toronto Blue Jays - Fans may bring outside food into the ballpark as long as the items are wrapped, bagged, or left inside a container to avoid spillage. Single-serving food items may be brought into the Nationals Park, as long as they are contained in one of the approved bags under the Nationals current bag policy, or carried in your hands so the food items can be safely screened by security.

TEAMS WHO WILL LIKELY ALLOW THE SPAGHETTI INTO THE BALL PARK BUT A SMALLER SIZE BAG. (QUART OR OTHER STIPULATION)

  • Los Angeles Dodgers - Food is permitted from outside the stadium provided it is in a clear bag no larger than 12"X12"X6" and not in glass bottles, cans, coolers, glass containers or thermoses. Unbroken, factory-sealed plastic bottles of non-alcoholic beverages of 1 liter or less are permitted. (This is slightly smaller than a Gallon bag allowed, I think…)

  • St. Louis Cardinals - Guests may bring their own food & drinks into Busch Stadium for all games. Most food items are permitted, but guests should consider our bag policy when deciding what food to bring. Non-alcoholic beverages including water and soda in factory sealed clear plastic containers no larger than 2 liters are allowed. Guests may bring in items such as: bags, purses and soft-sided coolers not exceeding 10" x 8" x 10". (This is a smaller than a Gallon Bag here so maybe just a Quart Sized)

  • Texas Rangers - YOU GET TWO BAGS! Each guest is allowed a maximum of two (2) bags per person. Bags are not to exceed 16”(L) X8”(W) X16”(H). All authorized bags must be soft-sided. Guests are permitted to bring outside food into the ballpark as long as it is inside a sealed, clear, quart-sized(or less) plastic bag.
Guests may also bring in one sealed non-flavored water in a plastic bottle up to 1 liter. One bag of food and one bottle of water per ticket will be permitted. (So you can get two GALLON bags here, HOWEVA, the food has to be a in Quart sized bag)

TEAMS WHO WILL PROBABLY WON’T ALLOW THE SPAGHETTI INTO THE BALL PARK BUT MAYBE???

  • New York Mets - Items can be no larger than 16”x16”x8”. Diaper bags that are not backpack style, tote, drawstring, fully clear backpack style bags with no obscured inner pockets and messenger style bags along with small soft-sided coolers are still permitted. Exceptions include empty, reusable metal water bottles and hollow can coolers. Guests may bring one factory-sealed plastic water bottle of 20 ounces or less and one sealed, soft-sided child’s juice box per child. Doesn't specifically say yes or no to outside food from what I could tell. Citi Field reserves the right to determine what items are deemed appropriate for entry. So who knows, you may get a cool security person who is down with allowing spaghetti in a ballpark.

  • Philadelphia Phillies - Gallon Bag Allowed, could not find any section regarding if outside food was allowed or not. It was not listed in the prohibited items though, so you could try to press your luck if you wanted. The majority of this section was spent telling fans to behave at the game. Which, understandable.

TEAMS WHO WILL ALLOW THE SPAGHETTI INTO THE BALL PARK BUT ONLY FOR MEDICAL REASONS ONLY

  • Detroit Tigers - Single-compartment items smaller than 4" x 6" x 1.5" are permitted. Outside food and beverage of any kind is prohibited (except for religious, dietary or for medical necessity). Guests are permitted to bring in a single bottle of water in a clear, factory-sealed plastic container that is 20 ounces or less. A single, crushable, empty plastic water bottle that is 20 ounces or less is also permitted. You’d have to have a doctor’s note for spaghetti here. Doc, I need a spaghetti subscription and it can’t be mom’s spaghetti. A PASTA PRESCRIPTION!

  • Tampa Bay Rays - Only Clear Bags are permitted. Fans may bring one (1) single-compartment clear bag (plastic, vinyl, or PVC) no larger than 12” x 12” x 6” - Outside food or beverage is not permitted, with the exception of one sealed, personal-sized bottle of water. Exceptions can be made for food specifically needed for medical reasons or childcare. A PASTA PRESCRIPTION NEEDED HERE TOO!

TEAMS WHO DON’T ALLOW OUTSIDE FOOD EXCEPT FOR A FEW THINGS BUT NOT SPAGHETTI

  • The baseball team formerly known as the Oakland Athletics - Gallon Bag Allowed, No outside food or beverage is permitted into the ballpark. Fans will be allowed to bring in reasonably sized bags of peanuts and/or sunflower seeds only, Reusable beverage containers are permitted inside the stadium so long as they are empty. Could not find a medical spaghetti exception here.

TEAMS WHO I COULDN’T TELL IF THEY ALLOW ANYTHING BUT WATER

  • Boston Red Sox - Gallon Bag Allowed but only one sealed 16oz plastic bottle of water but nothing mentions outside food anywhere. I searched and searched but it was leading to nowhere. Knowing that the Red Sox card you no matter how old you look each time you go get beer, I doubt a gallon bag of spaghetti would be allowed here.

Well, that is done. Maybe I should research all 138 FBS Stadiums next??? Probably not as most football stadiums don’t seem to allow outside food from what I have seen so far. But I’ll check…
