The Sickos Synopsis Special Edition - LSU and FSU!

Here at the Sickos Committee, we really love the Old-Timey newspaper headlines from college football games from the 1920s and earlier. We wanted to do a weekly recap of some Sickos games in this old-timey style of writing for the fun of it. Just try to imagine an old school news reporter reading this aloud to you on an old transistor radio.

Sept. 4th - New Orleans, LA
The Florida State Seminoles slid down Interstate 10 to the Caesar’s Superdome, led by Mike Norvell, to face the LSU Tigers in the lauded Louisiana Kickoff Classic led by their new coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers took the important initial possession with an inclination to insert the football forcefully into the endzone but an elementary error by their unseasoned snapper forced them to settle for a frustrating field goal. Florida State found themselves marching methodically on their initial possession. The Noles first foray for points was pushed past the uprights to the right leaving the Seminoles supporters summoning strength to not remember recollections rife with remorse for games that got away. The Seminoles subsequent spin on the field resulted in a 14 play 85 yard masterful matriculation of the ball into the endzone to take the lead 7-3. LSU launched an attack attempting to answer the adversary’s advantage but their field goal attempt was blocked. The LSU defense, determined to deter the Noles next drive, did so and forced a punt. The Seminoles punt seemingly swayed in the Superdome’s suspended shining spotlights and the LSU returner mishandled and muffed the pointy pigskin and the nearby Noles nabbed the ball. Florida State’s fortunes fell short as they failed on fourth down and the score remained 7-3 at halftime.
The spry Seminoles shot out of the second half starting point scoring on successive drives stretching their supremacy and spearheading themselves into a 17-3 lead. Looking listless, LSU’s liveliness returned as their leader led them back and they bounded into the end zone after a 10 play 82 yard drive to halve the Seminoles superiority. The Tigers traded touchdowns with the steely Seminoles and the score was 24-17. LSU’s defense determined to discourage the Noles ensuing offensive encounter. The Bayou Bengals bowed up and barred the boys from Tallahasse a final first down. Florida State boots the ball back to the Bayou Bengals but the ball bounces off the LSU returner rebounding into the field and recovered by the Seminoles who were now sitting pretty at the Tigers 8 yard line. Florida State was fit to fix the final nail in the Tigers coffin and secure the Seminoles success. On 3rd and Goal the Noles tossed the ball recklessly to the running back who couldn’t corral the egg-shaped sphere spilling it to the turf and the Tigers tumbled on top of the ball. Left with 99 yards to travel to tie the game with a few ticks left on the clock, the Tigers tested the Noles notorious pass rush by tiptoeing out of would be tackles to traipse down the length of the long drawn out field. One second remained for the Tigers to try to tie the game and the LSU QB quickly connected for a final second touchdown. A cavalcade of cheers cascaded from the LSU fans. The game was all but certain to enter in overtime but still pending was an essential extra point to extend the entanglement. The Seminoles sliced through the seams in the LSU line and jumped into the junction between the ball and goalposts blocking the boot by the Tigers kicker. The Noles notched a noteworthy narrow win for Norvell. Brian Kelly’s crew came close but couldn’t claw all the way back.
