The Sickos Stats Summary - Week 5!!
Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary!
If you missed this last year and the explainer, this year at the Sickos Sentinel, we’re going to bring you something called the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.
Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.
Also, if I miss something on these, feel free to yell at me to correct. I am nowhere near perfect and data pulls miss things sometimes 🙂

The Sickos Stats Summary
WEEK 5 SAFETY ALERTS FOR GAMES INVOLVING DIVISION I TEAMS
In 2024, we started tracking records of people who scored a safety on their opponent. Last year teams who scored a safety were 58-29 on the year. A winning percentage of .666%. So, we wanted to track them again.
Currently this year teams have a 20-8 Record on the year when scoring a safety entering this week.
We had some really good safeties this week! It was awesome and I hope didn’t miss any!
Indiana had the intentional safety to win the game.
Bryant stuffed Towson on the 1 yard line for a loss and a safety but lost.
Howard stuffed Richmond on the 1 yard line for a loss and a safety but lost.
Texas Southern got a Mississippi Valley State snap over the head for a safety and got a win.
Tennessee State blocked a punt while down 35-6 late in the 4th for a safety.
NC Central got strip sack of East Texas A&M for a safety and got a win.
Overall a mixed bag safety week. 2-4 this week when scoring a safety. Overall 22-12 this season.
Here is our Safety Compilation on our YouTube
Also, there was this SAFETY that didn’t count due to a defensive holding. OH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO HOLD VANDY!!!
this is UTTERLY BIZARRE

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - FIELD GOAL
I am going to break this one down more this week, and we had some epic drives in time of possession for touchdowns, field goals, punts, interceptions, and turnover on downs.
First up, its the longest drive of the week for any type of drive but just so happens to be a field goal. Hawaii was in the road at Air Force in Colorado Springs and they took a little bit to get ramped up here. This is the LONGEST DRIVE OF THE YEAR so far for any purpose.
Hawaii went 24 plays, 80 yards in 12 Minutes and 14 Seconds but had to settle for a 31 yard field goal. This drive basically took the entire 2nd quarter and was the only score in the 2nd Quarter for either team in a game that had a combined 79 points. INCREDIBLE!!

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - TOUCHDOWN
Cal went clear across the country to play Boston College. They basically imitated their flight time on this drive. Last week they had one of these but failed to score. This week they got the touchdown after a 15 play, 84 yard, 9 Minute and 3 Second drive.

LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - TURNOVER ON DOWNS
Harvard was in control against fellow Ivy League school Brown. They attempted to kill the entire clock in the 4th Quarter while up 41-7 and damn near did it. They went 15 plays, 84 yards in 9 Minutes and 30 seconds but failed on 4th and 5 on Brown’s 10 yard line. They left 4:09 on the clock and no one scored for the rest of the game.

Harvard’s Award - They have enough already right?
LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - MISSED FIELD GOAL
It was a Sickos Committee Game of the Week on Lake Michigan for this one. Northwestern was hanging on to a 17-6 lead and mounted this 17 Play, 67 yard drive for 9 Minutes and 52 Seconds, which resulted in a missed 20 yard Field Goal for Northwestern. Maybe this drive was one of the many reasons this game was the Sickos Committee Game of the Week.

Ignore the Score thing here it is wrong but the Drive Summary is Right. It’s like they counted the NW Missed Field Goal as points for UCLA.

Northwestern’s Award
LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - INTERCEPTION
Morehead State was struggling with the undefeated Presbyterian Blue Hose and were down 41-0. They seemingly put everything together on this one beautiful drive that went 16 Plays, 77 Yards in 10 Minutes and 2 seconds. All to have it come crashing down with an interception on 4th and Goal from the Blue Hose’s 1 yard line. Valiant effort Eagles. At least you got this award as some sort of consolation?

LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK FOR DIVISION I
I was doing the data pull and it showed Morehead State with a 75 yard punt and then went to find the video. It was scored wrong and only was a 45 yard punt. That wasn’t nice. You may need to correct that one Pioneer League.
However, they let me find a NICE PUNT for TCU!! a 69 Yard Punt for TCU’s Ethan Craw! Of course no one posted it so we had to clip it. The only problem here is Fox is really mean with Copyright Strikes. So it may be pulled down and we may get a Copyright Strike because we want to CELEBRATE THE LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK BUT FOX WON’T LET US.

Nice Punt

Here is the Video which we hope stays up!
