The Sickos Stats Summary for Week 7!
Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary!
If you missed this last year and the explainer, this year at the Sickos Sentinel, we’re going to bring you something called the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.
Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.
Also, if I miss something on these, feel free to yell at me to correct. I am nowhere near perfect and data pulls miss things sometimes 🙂

The Sickos Stats Summary
WEEK 7 SAFETY ALERTS FOR GAMES INVOLVING DIVISION I TEAMS
In 2024, we started tracking records of people who scored a safety on their opponent. Last year teams who scored a safety were 58-29 on the year. A winning percentage of .666%. So, we wanted to track them again.
Overall 27-16 this season this season when scoring a safety. I wonder if the rash of intentional safeties is skewing this number???

Intentional Safeties are so hot right now
We had some really good safeties this week! It was awesome and I hope didn’t miss any! The data pull missed three and I think I got them all. If not, yell at me like always, I won’t get mad and will try to update this as soon as possible. This is mostly a manual process since not many people care about safeties like we do here. Hell most of the safety clips, I have to get myself.
Notre Dame got a safety on NC State after a 3 minute review and the crowd chanting for the safety. I will put a small clip of the safety on our YouTube but i have the full 3 minutes here.
So Notre Dame got a safety on NC State after a 3 minute review. The entire crowd was chanting for the safety and making the safety hand signal during the review. We got to hand it to Notre Dame here. Sorry for the long clip but it’s so good.

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - TOUCHDOWN
You know how I said last week that Army typically dominates this stat but they took six weeks to win an award this year? Well, they just went back to back weeks on winning this award. They went 17 plays, 85 yards in 10 Minutes and 51 seconds for a Touchdown on Charlotte. A drive that nearly duplicated their effort last week.

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - FIELD GOAL
Illinois State was looking to put away a really feisty Murray State team looking for their first win of the season. They embarked on a 19 play, 88 yard, 9 minute and 57 second drive in the 4th Quarter to nearly kill the entire clock and made a field goal for the two possession win.

Congrats Redbirds on your award
LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - PUNT
UCF was trying to do something against Cincy’s defense and got all the way down to the 29. Then UCF had three yard gain, then a chop block and a false start. Their 3rd and 27 pass fell incomplete. The 17 play, 40 yard, 9 minute and 2 second drive ended in a punt. The Final score of this game was 20-11, which was weird in its own right.

LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - TURNOVER ON DOWNS
Stanford was on a nice drive and got all the way down to 3rd and GOal at SMU’s 1 yard line and failed. They decided to go for it and failed on 4th Down. At least you won this prize Stanford.

LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK
So we typically keep this to Division I for the award as it is the easiest to track and do a data pull. Sometimes in other divisions, there are longer punts but I cannot reliably get the data each week. However, this week, we got a submission for the award from DII South Dakota School of Mines. Their punter, freshman Bryson Patten, hit a 75 yard boot. They submitted the video to us and we put it on our YouTube.
South Dakota Mines submitted this photo to get on the award for this week!
