The Sickos Stats Summary for Week 8!

My apologies for the delay in this week’s edition. The Commish traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona to catch the Idaho State and Northern Arizona University game. I’ll be writing about that trip here too and hope to have it out later this week.
Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary for Week 8!
If you missed the previous weeks and the explainer, this year at the Sickos Sentinel, we’re going to bring you something called the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.
Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.
SAFETY ALERTS FOR WEEK 8
You know we love our safeties here. It’s a scoring play that's rare, and it leads to weird scores that you don’t see too often. So we want to shout out these teams that scored a safety. We were able to gather data from the FBS, FCS and sometimes DII***. If we miss one in our data search, we’re sorry. It is not intentional, and sometimes the data is faulty.

SMU got a safety to take down their fellow new ACC mate Stanford 40-10. Wisconsin got a safety on Northwestern in the final game of the temporary stadium on Lake Michigan. Rhode Island opened the scoring against rival New Hampshire on their way to top the CAA this week.
Both teams who didn’t win this week while scoring a safety, Wofford and Kennesaw State, finished with 5 points. WE HAD TWO FIVERS FOR FINAL SCORES.
Week 1 - 8-3 Record
Week 2 - 7-1 Record
Week 3 - 3-0 Record
Week 4 - 6-3 Record
Week 5 - 4-3 Record
Week 6 - 0-0 Record
Week 7 - 2-3 Record
Week 8 - 3-2 Record
33-15 Record on the Year if you score a safety
LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

Welcome to the Elon Phoenix Week 8 Recap. Elon took this drive in the 4th Quarter and drained the full clock out to end the game. The Phoenix went 17 plays and 73 yards draining the life off of UAlbany completely killing the clock with kneel downs inside the Great Danes 2 yard line to finish off the 30-14 win.
LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

North Dakota decided to open their game against Northern Iowa with this grinding 16-play, 77-yard, 9-minute, and 22-Second touchdown drive. This set the tone for the game, and the Fighting Hawks went on to a 31-7 victory.
This drive had some stiff competition too. The unexpected 5-2 Stony Brook Seawolves had a 16-play, 84-yard, 9-minute, and 17-second field goal drive. Georgia Southern had an 18-play, 96-yard, 9-minute, and 14-Second Touchdown drive, while fellow Sun Belt mate Arkansas State had a 17-play, 72-Yard, 9-minute and 7-second field goal drive.

Thank you for reading! We are working on more data sorting to come up with more ridiculous stats to celebrate, so stay tuned. Also, feel free to suggest more ideas in the comments or yell at me if the data missed something so I can correct it!
We rebranded a metric from last year to a newly better named one C.O.A.S.T. TO VICTORY - A rebranded stat from the Sickos Committee! and then an all new stat to calculate the Spinach Team of the Week!
