Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary!

If you missed this last year, welcome to the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.

Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.

Also, if I miss something on these, feel free to yell at me to correct. I am nowhere near perfect and data pulls miss things sometimes 🙂

In 2024, we started tracking records of people who scored a safety on their opponent. In 2024, teams who scored a safety were 58-29 on the year. A winning percentage of .666%.

Teams scoring a safety were 58-27 in 2025 when scoring a safety this season for the DI Teams. A win percentage of .682 of in 2025. A slight improvement over 2024.

Coming into this week, teams are 16-5 on the year when scoring a safety. This week was mostly, if you scored a safety, you won again!

We had a bit of a theme for some safeties this week, it was holding in the endzone week:

  • Indiana State got one when Valpo held in the endzone. Indiana State won.

  • Boston College got one when Maine held in the endzone. BC won.

  • Miami got one when Wake Forest held in the endzone. Miami won.

  • Chicago State had a snap go over the head of the punter and who booted it out of the end zone. Butler won.

  • Charleston Southern got a safety on Point. Charleston Southern won and I could not get video of this one.

  • Morehead State lost 59-2 to Western Illinois. A really weird score but the weirdest safety of the week.

So teams were 5-1 this week when getting a safety. Up to 21-6 overall this year. As always, here is the Safety Compilation on our YouTube.

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - FIELD GOAL

The Trojans of Troy went to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Tigers of Mizzou. They fought really hard but eventually lost 27-17. This drive occurred in the first quarter, and the Trojans took a 10-0 lead, causing a little bit of worry in Mizzou fans.

This masterful 19-play, 81-yard drive took 10 minutes and 32 seconds, ending with a made 27-yard field goal and that 10-0 lead. Troy, you may not have won the game, but you won this award and the Committee’s hearts with this drive. Congrats.

LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

Chicago State is new to football this year. This is only their fourth game in program history, and they have wound up in this stats summary TWICE in their first four games and TWICE in this post alone. Chicago State, we love you.

The Cougars took the ball on an epic journey of 17 plays, 71 yards, in 9 minutes and 37 seconds. They got all the way down to the Butler 1-yard line on 4th and goal. They went for it and attempted a pass, but it fell incomplete. Chicago State, we applaud your effort to get that touchdown. You didn’t make it, but you get this award for the attempt. Congrats, Cougars!

THE LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK - DIVISION 1

UT-Martin went Skyhawking in Memphis this week. They were forced to punt and their punter Max Zuluaga booted the ball 74 yard for a touchback. There was a penalty on the play for an illegal shift/formation which really took away from the appreciation of this punt. It seemed the coverage team wasn’t running full force and the Memphis returner didn’t really try to field it after it went over his head. The Commentators didn’t really even pay attention to this and that is a bit upsetting to me.

HOWEVER, THIS IS WHAT WE DO HERE. WE APPRECIATE THE UNDERAPPRECIATED, WE SHINE LIGHT ON THINGS THAT NORMALLY GET MISSED!

SO CONGRATS MAX ON THIS BOOT AND WINNING THE LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK!

THE LONGEST MADE FIELD GOAL OF THE WEEK!

A 58 yard field goal made by Tulane’s Cooper Helmke. This was a school record for the Green Wave too! As an added bonus, he also hit a field goal from 53 yards in the same game. Congrats to Cooper!

THE LOWEST SCORING GAME OF THE WEEK - ALL DIVISIONS

I really love this one because it’s a really nice score. Also, the official score on the Minnesota-Duluth website says no one saw this game happen and the official attendance was 0. If no one saw this game, did it really happen? Yes, it did because we found it, and it happened. (I hope they don’t update this attendance figure now)

Minnesota-Duluth’s punter and kicker Drew Henson did it all here for the Bulldogs. He had 4 punts for 169 yards in total with a long of 64 yards and three downed inside the 20.

He also went 3 for 5 on field goals, including the game winning 37 yarder as time expired.

Congrats to Drew and the Bulldogs on the win in the Lowest Scoring Game of the Week in all of college football!
