The Sickos Stats Summary for Week 9!

Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary for Week 9!
If you missed the previous weeks and the explainer, this year at the Sickos Sentinel, we’re going to bring you something called the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.
Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.
SAFETY ALERTS FOR WEEK 9
You know we love our safeties here. It’s a scoring play that's rare, and it leads to weird scores that you don’t see too often. So we want to shout out these teams that scored a safety. We were able to gather data from the FBS, FCS and sometimes DII***. If we miss one in our data search, we’re sorry. It is not intentional, and sometimes the data is faulty.

This week if you got a safety you were undefeated this week. Iowa used their safety as a supercharger and racked up 40 points on the day. Kansas State’s safety wound up being their margin of victory. Memphis had a game sealing safety against Charlotte.

(71.69% Winning Percentage with a Safety)
LONGEST NON-SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

The Battle for the Bronze Stalk was one of the most fun games of the week. Ball State went on this 3rd Quarter drive and got all the way to the NIU 28, but a sack on third down took them into weird no-man’s land at the NIU 37. It would have been a 54 or 55-yard field goal attempt here, but they decided to pooch punt down to the two-yard line with the QB. They did make a game winning 52-yard field goal, and maybe that was the edge of the kicker's range. Nonetheless, Ball State wins the Bronze Stalk and longest non-scoring drive of the week! Congrats Cardinals!
LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

Wagner was down 21-0 at halftime to UMass, and they needed some sort of spark. They took their opening drive of the second half, 15 Play and 75 yards for a methodical touchdown, to cut the lead to 21-7. Unfortunately, this was their only score of the game.

LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK - FBS & FCS

Ethan Gettman booted this first quarter punt to push New Hampshire back to their 22. New Hampshire then fumbled on the next drive. So we’d like to credit this powerful punt for that fumble, but Villanova then fumbled on their next drive.
Thank you for reading! We are working on more data sorting to come up with more ridiculous stats to celebrate, so stay tuned. Also, feel free to suggest more ideas in the comments or yell at me if the data missed something so I can correct it!
We rebranded a metric from last year to a newly better named one C.O.A.S.T. TO VICTORY - A rebranded stat from the Sickos Committee! and then an all new stat to calculate the Spinach Team of the Week!
