Welcome back to the Sickos Stats Summary!

If you missed this last year, welcome to the Sickos Stats Summary. It’s basically going to be weird stats on different things we found that we don’t think get a lot of attention. We will make some graphics every week and try to give you a few amounts of stats that are unconventionally appealing or things that don’t get highlighted much.

Do I know how many stats will be in each weekly post? Nope.

Also, if I miss something on these, feel free to yell at me to correct. I am nowhere near perfect and data pulls miss things sometimes 🙂

WEEK ONE SAFETY ALERTS FOR GAMES INVOLVING DIVISION I TEAMS

In 2024, we started tracking records of people who scored a safety on their opponent. In 2024, teams who scored a safety were 58-29 on the year. A winning percentage of .666%.

Teams scoring a safety were 58-27 in 2025 when scoring a safety this season for the DI Teams. A win percentage of .682 of in 2025. A slight improvement over 2024.

Well, let’s get started tracking safeties again in 2026. We sat a perfect 4-0 after Week 0. However, this week, the safety getting team lost a few games but we did have a team with two safeties in the same game.

We had EIGHT safeties on the week!

  • USC got Two safeties against Fresno State

  • Syracuse blocked a New Hampshire punt for a safety

  • Southern Illinois got a sack on Samford for a safety.

  • Mizzou got one when the snap went over the Arkansas Pine-Bluff punter’s head and he kicked it really far to get it out the end zone.

  • Miles stuffed an Alabama A&M run for a safety.

  • Kentucky State got a safety when a Southern fumble went out the endzone.

  • Lindenwood got a safety when a Stony Brook snap went out the endzone. Amazingly Stony Brook overcame this 22-7 deficit to win 36-32.

So after Week 1 everyone who got a safety won their football game. A rough week when scoring a safety, we finish 4-3. We are 8-3 this year when scoring a safety. As always the safety compilation is here on our YouTube.

LONGEST SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION - FIELD GOAL

There are only two drives longer in time of possession in Division I college football history. One was two years ago when Army went 13 Minutes and 54 Seconds in 21 Plays for 94 yards and a touchdown against North Texas. The other one is the record holder. Navy went 14 minutes and 26 seconds in 26 plays for 95 yards and settling for a 22 yard field goal against New Mexico in the now defunct 2004 Emerald Bowl.

Western Michigan, I know this award is not a consolation for what happened in this game against Michigan based on the final score. But think of it this way, you have the longest scoring drive in the history of college football for a non service academy. Also, if you had gotten a facemask call, this could have been the mythical drive that takes a full quarter. So Congrats Broncos.

LONGEST NON SCORING DRIVE OF THE WEEK - TIME OF POSSESSION

This was one of those everything can happen weeknight games between Georgia Tech and Colorado. One of those what the hell are these two teams doing in the middle of this game and then it ended with the best finish possible. However, in the middle of this one, Colorado took a drive 17 plays for 61 yards and then had a 38 yard field goal blocked after 9 minutes and 7 seconds of possession. Colorado did get revenge for this block by blocking the potential game winner. So hey congrats Buffs!

THE LONGEST PUNTS OF THE WEEK - DIVISION I

We had a tie AGAIN for Week 1 - Which means I need to order another trophy from (maybe this trophy place will sponsor this award one day or one will contact me).

Our winners this week were Kyle Pinto of Southern Connecticut State. The commentators were remarking that his average punt was only 27 yards, then this 74 yarder came out of nowhere. The Commentators also said this was a 61 yard punt by their count, which was wrong by 13 yards. Congrats Kyle!

The second punter tied was the new West Virginia punter who transferred from Colorado State, Bryan Hansen. He booms this punt over the Coastal returners head and then we got some fantastic special teams play to down it at the 1 yard line. Just overall great punting and special teams. Congrats to Bryan!

NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS!!! WE HAD A LONGEST PUNT SUBMISSION FROM DIVISION II

THE LONGEST PUNT OF THE WEEK ALL NCAA DIVISIONS

Thanks to our friends at Division I Rejects for this Submission! We can’t fully run reports on DII and DIII just yet for punting stats. One day we hope to get there. Joey Chiavetta of Southwest Baptist Football booted an 81 YARD PUNT for Southwest Baptist against our friends the Hardrockers from South Dakota School of Mines.

I even got the broadcast angle of this one on top of this. So enjoy multiple angles of an 81 YARD PUNT and Joey we will be sending you a trophy as soon as we get them in!
