Welcome to the Sickos Committee’s Weather, Travel & Football Master Almanac Network aka the SCWTFMAN.

Here at the SCWTFMAN we will attempt to forecast the upcoming 2024 college football season by using our Sickos Committee alert system. We’re going to do this in the Famer’s Almanac style. If you don’t know what a Farmers' Almanac is, basically it provides long-range weather predictions for both the U.S. and Canada. We will be applying our forecast to all of Division I in the United States. We’re trying to predict what the upcoming season holds for all Division I teams in college football using our Sickos Committee Weather Alert System.

First we will preview the 129 FCS teams in a conference by conference breakdown over the next coming weeks. Then we will get to the FBS.

Will these previews be long winded and incredibly in depth? No. 

Will these previews be mostly based on “vibes” as assessed by the Sickos Committee weather forecasters? Yes. 

Basically, we’re going to try to assess the team as a Sickos Warning, Watch or Advisory, give you their record last year, provide a little blurb about the team and for the FCS version to possibly advise you of any of their games against the FBS and interesting schedule tidbits. This year we’re also adding a conference specific thing.

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 110th

Anything New? Dale! FIU Stadium has been renamed to Pitbull Stadium, with the star paying over $1.2 million a year for naming rights and other benefits.

Sickos Forecast: Warning - They should take a huge step up on offense, maybe enough for their first bowl this decade.

Potential Sickos Game(s): vs Central Michigan, September 7. The home opener at Pitbull Stadium should be a good test against a decent MAC team. Also, the Schnellenberger game at FAU and all the way to El Paso for a mid-week game against UTEP.

Anything New? Luke Olson takes over at defensive coordinator, a position he held at Tulsa in 2022.

Sickos Forecast: Watch - The Gamecocks had an amazing first FBS season, will be fun to see if they can keep it up. They won’t need a special exception for a bowl game this year.

Potential Sickos Game(s): vs Coastal Carolina, August 29. Chants vs Cocks on a Thursday night to kick off the season should be a very fun time. Also, at Eastern Michigan on the Grey turf.

Kennesaw State

Last Year's Record: 3-6 (FCS Independent)

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 124th

Anything New? The Owls make the jump to the FCS, where they had plenty of success in the past, with 10+ wins in each full season from 2017-21. They did have Messi train on their field this offseason during Copa America too!

Sickos Forecast: Advisory - Kennesaw struggled mightily last year, failing to beat a single Division 1 team, so we’re hoping for the best here.

Potential Sickos Game(s): at Middle Tennessee, October 15. A weeknight game between the two projected worst teams in CUSA could get weird. Also, a weird trip to California to play San Jose State in Week 3.

Liberty

Last Year's Record: 13-1 (8-0 CUSA), won CUSA Title Game, lost Fiesta Bowl.

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 19th

Anything New? They lost 4 of their top 5 WRs from 2023, but brought in some transfers from Purdue and Coastal Carolina to help fill the spots.

Sickos Forecast: Advisory - They ran the table in the regular season last year, and remain the clear conference favorite.

Potential Sickos Game(s): they welcome East Carolina on Sept 21st. Then at Appalachian State, September 28 and this has shootout written all over it, and even has an outside chance at CFP implications. Could be their two hardest tests all year.

Louisiana Tech

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 123rd

Anything New? Jeremiah Johnson comes down south to take over as defensive coordinator after being in the position at Northern Iowa for 15 of the last 16 seasons. This is also Year 2 of their endzone enclosure.

Sickos Forecast: Watch - They can flirt with a bowl bid if the defense improves.

Potential Sickos Game(s): at New Mexico State, October 15. How will the Bulldogs fare on a Tuesday night after a long flight to Las Cruces? Then they welcome UTEP the next week and go back out to Texas at Sam Houston the next week.

Middle Tennessee

Last Year's Record: 4-8 (3-5 CUSA)

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 122

Anything New? Former Vanderbilt HC Derek Mason takes over as head coach after Rick Stockstill took MTSU to 12 bowls in 18 years.

Sickos Forecast: Watch - They only have 7 returning starters, so lots of new faces could lead to interesting results.

Potential Sickos Game(s): at Louisiana Tech, October 10. A weeknight game in Ruston could play a large role in bowl eligibility.

New Mexico State

Last Year's Record: 10-5 (7-1 CUSA) Lost CUSA Title Game, lost New Mexico Bowl.

Final FBS Sickos Poll Ranking: 6th

Anything New? NMSU alumnus and former UNLV head coach Tony Sanchez steps in to fill the shoes of Jerry Kill, who stepped away for health reasons but is now an analyst at Vanderbilt. QB Diego Pavia also transferred to Vanderbilt.

Sickos Forecast: Watch - They may still have the talent to go bowling with their new HC.

Potential Sickos Game(s): vs New Mexico, September 28. The Rio Grande Rivalry could be a toss-up this year with both teams having new head coaches. At Sam Houston could be interesting. They have an Aggie vs Aggie matchup at Kyle Field later this year and an unlikely back to back chance for SEC wins.

Sickos Forecast: Watch - The offense should improve, but bowl eligibility may be still out of reach. Although they had a propensity for veryyyyyyy close games last year and blowing late leads sooooo let’s say Watch.

Potential Sickos Game(s): vs Hawaii, September 14. The Bearkats’ home opener sees them host the Warriors coming off a 3800 mile flight. At Kennesaw State should be fun since they narrowly escaped with a 24-21 win at home last year against the Owls.

Potential Sickos Game(s): vs Sam Houston, October 3. The Miners host an in-state foe that could be a make-or-break game for bowl eligibility.

Potential Sickos Game(s): at Boston College, September 28. WKU tries for a Power 4 upset in New England as Big Red scarfs down tons of Dunkin Donuts. Also, love they are playing Eastern Kentucky this year in Week 2.
