The Sickos Committee’s Weather Travel and Football Master Almanac Network aka the SCWTFMAN - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference aka the MEAC

Welcome to the Sickos Committee’s Weather, Travel & Football Master Almanac Network aka the SCWTFMAN.

Here at the SCWTFMAN we will attempt to forecast the upcoming 2024 college football season by using our Sickos Committee alert system. We’re going to do this in the Famer’s Almanac style. If you don’t know what a Farmers' Almanac is, basically it provides long-range weather predictions for both the U.S. and Canada. We will be applying our forecast to all of Division I in the United States. We’re trying to predict what the upcoming season holds for all Division I teams in college football using our Sickos Committee Weather Alert System.

First we will preview the 129 FCS teams in a conference by conference breakdown over the next coming weeks. Then we will get to the FBS.

Will these previews be long winded and incredibly in depth? No. 

Will these previews be mostly based on “vibes” as assessed by the Sickos Committee weather forecasters? Yes. 

Basically, we’re going to try to assess the team as a Sickos Warning, Watch or Advisory, give you their record last year, provide a little blurb about the team and for the FCS version to possibly advise you of any of their games against the FBS and interesting schedule tidbits. This year we’re also adding a conference specific thing.

For the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference aka the MEAC, we’re going to give you the distance to the Midpoint and the distance to the Easternmost point of the United States. The easternmost point of the United States is at Quoddy Head, Maine. The midpoint is about about 2.6 miles (4.2 km) northwest of the center of Lebanon, Kansas, approximately 12 miles (19 km) south of the Kansas–Nebraska border.

Delaware State 

Where: Dover, DE

Last Year's Record: 1-10 (0-5 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: The Hornets have one of the best color schemes (Columbia Blue and Cherry Red) in College Football. Their logo was amazing but they softened the look of the hornet.

This team is fighting hard for everything they earn. Additionally, this is the 100th year of Delaware State University Football. First Season 1924 where the Hornets went 0-1 and their only game was against Lincoln(PA).

Sickos Forecast:  Watch

Potential Sickos Game(s): The Hornets are going to struggle in most games this season. Their first game is as far from home as possible, as they head to Hawai’i to play the Rainbow Warriors. This game will be the opponent that travels the farthest to play the ‘Bows this season at 4,913 miles.

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1355 miles from the midpoint. 726 Miles to the Easternmost point.

Howard University

Where: Washington, DC

Last Year's Record: 6-6 (4-1 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: Howard University won their first outright MEAC championship in 30 tries in 2023. This season they are seeking to show even more to their fanbase. 

Sickos Forecast:  Watch - Captured the Conference title last year but can they do it again this year?

Potential Sickos Game(s): Hampton has beaten Howard in seven straight matchups. Howard is itching to prove they are the “Real HU” in this year's Truth and Service Classic.

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1,279 miles from the midpoint. 783 miles to the Easternmost point.

Morgan State

Where: Baltimore, MD

Last Year's Record: 4-4 (3-2 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: Morgan State has faced some rough seasons in the new millennium. However, the team had a reversal of fortune in 2023 beating FCS Richmond on the road and scoring a win streak in the meat of their schedule. This season, the Bears seek to improve on that success.

Sickos Forecast:  WARNING - Their schedule has them set up for a potential up and down season

Potential Sickos Game(s): Morgan State opens up against long time rival Hampton University on the road and then follows that with in-state rival Towson. 

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1279 miles from the midpoint of the US. 745 miles to the Easternmost point.

Norfolk State

Where: Norfolk, VA

Last Year's Record: 3-8 (1-4 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: The Spartans have steadily built under Coach Dawson Odums. Going into his fourth season, this would be the time for a breakout year. 

Sickos Forecast:  WATCH - They look to get better but may wind up in the middle of the pack here.

Potential Sickos Game(s):  The Green & Gold will be playing in two Classics away from home this season, the MEAC/SWAC Kickoff Classic and the Circle City Classic. They are also playing Hampton at home and Virginia State (affectionately called “Big State” by the Spartan Faithful.)

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1,423 miles from the midpoint of the US. This would make it the furthest from the midpoint. 920 miles to the Easternmost point.

North Carolina Central

Where: Durham, NC

Last Year's Record: 9-3 (4-1 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: NC Central has positioned their program as one of the best in HBCU ball. They have shown themselves capable of beating anyone they play, from NCA&T to SWAC opponents. They were HBCU North Carolina champs with wins over Winston-Salem State and the aforementioned Aggies. (For good measure the Eagles beat Campbell, Elon, and SC State in 2023 as well.) NCCU was also involved in the FCS playoffs. 

Sickos Forecast:  Advisory - They look primed to win the Conference after nearly pulling it off last year.

Potential Sickos Game(s): The Eagles will play UNC for the first time this season along with their greatest rival NCA&T. For some interesting gameplay they will also take on the Norfolk State Spartans in the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis. 

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1,301 miles from the midpoint of the US. 1,047 miles to the Easternmost point

South Carolina State

Where: Orangeburg, SC

Last Year's Record: 5-6 (3-2 MEAC)

Why Should You Care: SC State has been a mainstay in the HBCU world for many years. With the retirement of Coach Oliver “Buddy” Pough the Bulldogs will be without him on the sideline for the first time in 22 years. Witnessing a new era is enough to tune in.

Sickos Forecast:  WATCH - New coach replacing a legend is always tough.

Potential Sickos Game(s): Early rivalry games are always a blast and SC State takes on FAMU to start the season. Later in the season they will play NCA&T at in Orangeburg. 

Distance to the Midpoint & Easternmost point of the United States: 1,287 miles from the midpoint of the US. 1,278 miles from the easternmost point. Nearly identical distances from the Mid and Easternmost points and furthest away from the Easternmost point in conference.
