Sickos On Site: Sacred Heart at Montana
Big Sky Brigit attended the Sacred Heart and Montana game in person and she wanted to share all the awesome photos she got from the game and write a little something here.
Take it away Brigit!

Sickos On Site: Sacred Heart at Montana
One of the things that remains crazy to me is that we get to cover games in person. As a Big Sky school alum, it’s wild and amazing to me to get to go to games for schools I’ve watched for decades.
One such game was literally down the street from my house: the Sacred Heart Pioneers traveling to Washington-Grizzly Stadium to take on the Montana Grizzlies for the first time.
Scroll down to the bottom for the link to the full gallery. For now, here’s a preview!
Tailgates
The day of the game was actually quite chilly! I literally had to buy new gloves that would work with my cameras in case the fog never burned off!

An RV with stickers designating who’s won Cat-Griz (The Brawl of the Wild) every year, beginning in 1986, the start of The Streak

This family drove all the way from Glendive to catch the game! Also you can drive that far and still not leave the state. Montana big

The GSA tailgate, the only spot around the stadium where one can purchase alcohol

Blackeet artist Jay Laber used junk metal for this statue. It’s really fucking cool.

The same view but with the “We Are Montana” on the stadium visible.

The University is right on the Clark Fork and the view from the stadium looks directly into Hellgate Canyon.

Warm-Ups and Pregame
Despite being a Bobcat alum, I maintain that Washington-Grizzly Stadium is one of the prettiest in college football. And it’s an incredible place to take in a game if you ever want to come to Big Sky Country.

There’s a lot more photos from warm-ups but I won’t spam you with them here

Do you have a flag?

Running out with the flags is always one of my favourite parts of a run-out

Fireworks!

it was First Responder Day (along with Breast Cancer Awareness Day) so we got a neat flyover that looked extra cool with the smoke from the fireworks.
First Quarter

Michael Wortham just barely misses catching a pass.

The Zoo Crew/Student Section

Huge shouts out to this guy and his buddy for being hype the whole game

Look at that commitment

Eli Gilman scores just out of my view.

I love taking panoramas at games. You can’t tell me this isn’t an amazing environment. FCS football is Good, y’all.
Michael Wortham’s First TD
The fun thing about being in the end zones is getting to capture touchdowns and celebrations as they happen. That’s never gonna get old for me. Especially when I get to capture ones like this.

Let’s just watch the fun TD sequence, shall we?

That was fun.
Second Quarter
Sacred Heart, I didn’t forget about you!

But first, the cannon that I always forget about until it goes off and scares me to death.

Sacred Heart made this quite the game in the third!

I would put these in a gallery but I don’t see how to do that in Beehiiv so you get just straight photos.

Quick break for Monte content

You can’t tell me this isn’t one of the most gorgeous settings in college football.

Keali’i Ah Yat has scored a TD

Life is short, steal a pylon
Third and Fourth Quarter

Just wanna shoutout this person in the banana costume. I hope you weren’t too cold

Time for more Monte content!

Getting pointers

I was genuinely both impressed and scared here
MIchael Wortham Second TD
Reader, as I said above, getting to capture cool touchdowns is one of the best parts of this thing we do here. And sometimes those touchdowns test your pocket awareness. Let’s follow this TD sequence and then watch the video and see if you can spot me.

The trickiest part of this was that he was running into the shadow and it was quite dark over there if I’m honest with you!

Look ma, I’m on TV!
Anything for the shot
How’d I do?
Thank you again for not running me and my three cameras over, Michael Wortham.

Don’t think I forgot about you, defense. We got a very dudes rock celebration here

Almost done! This was basically the final play of the game. I was literally packing up to leave!

This was Korbin Hendrix’s first career TD!

The guys who weren’t suited up were in the end zone cheering him on. Dudes rock

Monte had fun with the celebration in the DJ booth

And I had fun photographing it!

Singing “Up With Montana” after the win
And that’s all from me! Thank you again so much to everyone at Montana who credentialed us and was so kind and welcoming to lil ol’ me. And to everyone at Sacred Heart, I hope you had an amazing time in Missoula and I hope you can come back again before too long!
Stay tuned for photos from the Portland State at Idaho game soon, too!
If you want to relive the entire game, here’s the full gallery!
