In the beginning of this off-season, I have spent a good bit of time breaking down unclaimed national champions. I noted most of the national champions were awarded retroactively since most of them were awarded in 1934 or 1936, and college football started in 1869. Basically, we didn’t have national champs declared for 65 years of the sport.

Naming Retroactive Sickos Committee National Champions

For us as the Sickos Committee, we didn’t start publicly until 2021. We did exist in 2020, but just in a Discord server which is now a part of our Patreon for $5 per month. So, we really have only named five Sickos National Champions:

  • 2020 - Michigan (internally within our Discord, but our first tweet was this)

  • 2021 - Nebraska

  • 2022 - Iowa

  • 2023 - Iowa

  • 2024 - Florida State

  • 2025 - Penn State

We have started the spreadsheet to name retroactive national champions inside our Discord already. But I realized as Commish, there was one element remaining to help us determine the retroactive national champions…

That’s right…YOU!!!

We normally do a public poll on our social media accounts that allow anyone and everyone to vote for the Sickos Committee National Champs. So why would we not involve you here too???!!

What I am asking from you here is for you to submit a team name with the year of their season and their record. Also, I will give you an optional slot to say why you nominated them. You can submit the form as many times as you like for as many teams as you like and as many years as you like. I don’t care if it's FCS or FBS, or whatever level. We will look at all teams submitted.

SUBMIT NOMINEES HERE!!! THIS FORM WILL STAY OPEN!!

Also, if you don’t want to do the form, just yell at us on our social media posts about it. We will have a few on our various platforms. But I mean using the form makes things easy on us, and we won’t lose or miss your nominee.

Then all throughout this off-season, we will debate the merits of nominated teams in podcasts, and then we will crown retroactive national champs using what we call the Sickos Committee National Championship Foundation for as many years as we can get through. Some of the podcasts will be behind our Patreon, and some will be in our normal podcast. Also, I will likely break them down in some sort of blog here for some of the years.

Also, we have found the historic SP+ ratings from Bill Connelly; we will use historical AP polls, weird things that happened during the season from news clippings or internet stories, and whatever else we can do to determine these historical Sickos Committee National Champs. Hell, maybe some years we will have you vote for the champ if we cannot decide. If we get enough nominees for a particular year, we may even rank a Top 10, 20, 30, or whatever.

So keep listening to the podcast, subscribing here, following all our social media accounts, and staying fans of the Committee! We truly appreciate this stupid internet thing being able to keep going.
