My 7 Year Old Ranks the CFB Murals in Firehouse Subs
Hello again, running a pretty strange College football-based social media accounts we get tagged and mentioned in a wild array of posts from time to time, as you can imagine. On January 29th, 2025, we received a simple post from Corndad (@MrCc4536) (Thank you, Corndad) stating he was at a Firehouse Subs in Bowling Green, Kentucky and he sent us a few pics of artwork in there.

It’s a simple enough post, but then I had to look further and spotted Fireman Big Red. The Firehouse Subs mural had depicted the beloved Western Kentucky mascot as a Fireman, and I just thought that was neat. So, I quoted it and just simply said Fireman Big Red.

Little did I know what type of *firestorm* (wink) would take place over the next few days. Everyone started to tag us in their insane murals in their school’s Firehouse Subs location, and each one was more amazing than the last. I feel like we gave Firehouse Subs so much free advertising they need to call us (for real email us, link is in our social media accounts). This led to me immediately wanting to write a blog about it.
We discovered from CFBSelect.com that the artist hired by Firehouse Subs was called Joe “Art Brush” Puskas, an article about Joe and his Murals for Firehouse. We found out Joe and his team all paint the murals with a theme and then play up the team rivalries.

Oh, do they play up the rivalries! I didn’t know exactly how to write about this, but I decided to involve my 7-year-old kiddo in this blog and have him rank his favorite Firehouse CFB Rivalry Mural (that we discovered in all these posts). If you argue with these rankings, you are arguing with my 7-year-old, and look, he’s going to be really exact with you. Don’t you dare try to round up time to 8:30pm when it’s only 8:26pm. (He just told me we were writing this at 10:34am.)
THE TOP 10 FIREHOUSE SUB CFB MURALS RANKED BY MY 7 YEAR OLD
(what are his criteria? who knows but mainly vibes)
#1 LSU in Baton Rouge

He loves the Tiger one-handed lifting while drinking a Firehouse drink, and the elephant struggles to lift anything. He laughs at this one a lot. Furthermore, he also likes Joe Burrow, so you could call him out on the SEC bias! My 7-year-old, the SEC honk.
#2 Florida State in Tallahassee

The Seminole and Gator are fighting each other and not paying any attention to the fire. He says he likes that both teams have their own firetrucks too. (This one is the Commish’s favorite; I hate you so much. Let the other guys take care of the fire because we must fight.)
#3 TCU in Fort Worth

TCU and Texas Tech are just playing football on a fire truck, and he says he likes it because both are going after the football. . Not to mention, the Horned Frog is wearing people's clothes. The subtle longhorn on the firetruck is a nice touch.
#4 Michigan State in Lansing

He likes that the firefighters are fighting, and also the clouds are fighting too. He’s a big fan of the school colors matching. I don’t even see a fire in the area! It’s like they just showed up, and it was on sight. Even the clouds were 'bout that action.
#5 Georgia in Athens

He’s a big fan of the Bulldog having to wrangle up all the various mascots. Put out the fire on the Wildcat, dragging the gator by the tail, letting Smokey jump out of the house—what is the Auburn tiger doing? My favorite part is Uga chasing the Gamecock on the bottom left. Did the Gamecock set the house on fire???
#6 LSU in Denham Springs

He’s a big fan of this one because of the tailgate atmosphere. He said it reminded him of the Hailgate in Pittsburgh. All the mascots are just chilling and having a good time near Tiger Stadium. WELL EXCEPT FOR THE LSU KID RELEASING BEES ON THE MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOG!! (It is common for a random LSU kid to release bees on you at the tailgate though)
#7 Ohio State in Columbus

He likes it because they are spelling Ohio, and it also spells it on their hats. Simple enough. Congrats on the championship, Ohio State and coming in 7th in these Firehouse Subs mural rankings.
#8 Texas Tech in Lubbock

He likes this one because they are both trying to catch the longhorn. Also, he said one guy doesn’t even have a horse, and he’s just riding the firetruck. I don’t think I could have said it better myself.
#9 Auburn in Auburn

He likes that he’s stepping on the hose when the firemen are not even looking. I don’t think he realizes that the Auburn tiger is trying to allow the elephant’s tail to just burn.
#10 Kentucky in Lexington

He likes it because the Wildcat is the fire, and it doesn’t look like they are trying hard to put it out. He said it’s like they are letting the fire chase the animals. I have trouble with this one. Is the Wildcat the fire? Does the Lexington PD have to put out the Wildcat? Is the Wildcat on fire because of the mascots? Is that the Duke Blue Devil on the roof too? I have so many unanswered questions.
